Indian Defence Firm Pushes Boundaries with High-Altitude UAV Trials in Ladakh\n\nIndian defence technology company Invente Innovation Labs has successfully concluded a four-day high-altitude flight trial campaign in Leh, Ladakh, testing two indigenous unmanned aerial platforms in the challenging Himalayan environment.\n\nThe trials involved a propeller-driven platform and a 250N-class jet-powered tactical UAV, with the latter reaching an altitude of 5,400 metres.\n\nAccording to Invente, the propeller-driven platform, identified as Sentry.HAA, is designed for reconnaissance, patrol, and other missions in mountainous areas.\n\nSentry.HAA can take off from an altitude of around 4,200 metres and has demonstrated a ceiling of up to 5,000 metres above mean sea level.\n\nThe platform has an endurance of 90–120 minutes, a range of more than 100 km, and a payload capacity of 1 kg.\n\nIt uses a petrol-powered propulsion system and supports autonomous flight modes, including GPS-denied navigation and fail-safe profiles.\n\nInvente's second aircraft, Strike-1, is a tactical jet UAV powered by a 250N-class micro-turbojet using Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF).\n\nStrike-1 climbed from a 4,200-metre take-off altitude to 5,400 metres, achieving a reported maximum speed of 375 km/h.\n\nThe company lists an operational range of approximately 120 km and around 50 minutes of endurance with a full-fuel configuration and 1.5 kg integrated payload.\n\nStrike-1 is also being developed with onboard edge-computing capabilities for AI-based video analytics and automated target recognition.\n\nA terminal strike demonstration is planned at approved live-fire ranges, according to the company.\n\nThe Leh trials were intended to demonstrate UAV operation in an environment characterised by low air density, cold temperatures, and strong mountain winds.\n\nFor fixed-wing UAVs, reduced air density at high altitude can affect lift and propulsion performance, while the demanding environment also places additional requirements on flight-control systems, avionics, and thermal management.\n\nInvente said the trials validated its indigenous propulsion systems, composite aerostructures, and flight-control logic under Himalayan operating conditions.\n\nThe company has positioned the two platforms for different roles, with Sentry.HAA focused on persistent reconnaissance and surveillance and Strike-1 intended to provide a faster tactical unmanned capability.\n\nThis milestone achievement marks a significant step forward in the development of unmanned systems capable of operating in high-altitude environments, and it is likely to have far-reaching implications for the Indian defence sector.\n\nInvente's innovative approach to UAV design and development has the potential to revolutionise the way the Indian military operates in high-altitude regions, and it is an exciting time for the company and the defence sector as a whole.
