Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 6, 2026 • Effective for defencenewsnexus.in
Defence News Nexus ("we", "us", "the Site") operates defencenewsnexus.in as an independent, privately-run defense and aerospace news commentary platform. This Privacy Policy explains what limited information we collect from visitors, why, and what rights you have over it under Indian law, including the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the minimum information necessary to operate the Site and respond to visitors:
- Grievance / contact form submissions: if you use our Grievance Redressal form, we collect the name, email address, and message content you voluntarily provide, solely to respond to your complaint or query.
- Standard server log data: like virtually all websites, our hosting provider automatically logs technical data such as IP address, browser type, device type, referring page, and timestamps of visits. This is standard web server behaviour, not something we actively analyse or profile individuals with.
- Theme preference: if you toggle dark/light mode, that choice is stored only in your own browser's local storage. It is never transmitted to us or any third party.
We do not currently run third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking scripts on the Site. If this changes in the future, this Policy will be updated in advance of the change taking effect.
2. How We Use Information
- To respond to grievances, complaints, and legitimate queries submitted through our Grievance Redressal mechanism.
- To maintain the security, performance, and integrity of the Site (e.g. detecting abuse or spam submissions).
- To comply with applicable Indian law, including responding to lawful requests from courts or government authorities.
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.
3. Cookies & Local Storage
The Site does not set tracking or advertising cookies. The only client-side storage used is your browser's local storage, for remembering your dark/light theme preference. You can clear this at any time via your browser settings.
4. Third-Party Links & Embedded Content
Articles on the Site may link to, cite, or embed content from third-party sources (including source news articles and YouTube video embeds). These third parties operate under their own privacy policies, which we do not control. We encourage you to review the privacy practices of any third-party site or service you interact with via links or embeds on our Site.
5. Data Retention
Grievance/contact submissions are retained only as long as reasonably necessary to resolve the matter and to maintain a record for legal compliance purposes, after which they may be deleted.
6. Data Security
We take reasonable technical measures appropriate to the limited data we hold. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Children's Privacy
The Site is not directed at, nor knowingly used to collect information from, individuals under the age of 18. If you believe a minor has provided us information, please contact us so we can remove it.
8. Your Rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal information you have submitted to us (such as a grievance form submission) by contacting the Grievance Officer using the details below.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision.
