Air Marshal Jasvir Singh Mann, AVSM, VM, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOC-in-C) of the Indian Air Force's (IAF) Southern Air Command, recently undertook a crucial visit to Bengaluru, the hub of India's indigenous aerospace sector. During his trip, he paid visits to the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), two of the country's premier defence research and manufacturing institutions.
A Glimpse into ADA's Indigenous Aerospace Programs
At ADA, Air Marshal Mann engaged in a comprehensive exchange with Dr Amitabh Saraf, the Director of the organisation, as well as other senior leadership. The AOC-in-C was provided with detailed presentations on the Design & Development (D&D) programs, which showcased the progress of cutting-edge indigenous projects such as the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) AF Mk-II and the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA). Furthermore, he visited the Virtual Reality (VR) Lab, a state-of-the-art facility that enables the simulation of various combat scenarios, thereby enhancing the development and testing of these aircraft.
HAL's LCA Aircraft Division: A Key Production Hub
The AOC-in-C also made a stop at HAL, where he interacted with Shri Ravi K, the Chairman and Managing Director, Shri Jayakrishnan S, the Chief Executive Officer (BC), and other senior officers. During his visit to the LCA Aircraft Division, he was briefed on the production capabilities of the facility, which is instrumental in manufacturing the LCA Tejas Mk1A aircraft. The AOC-in-C emphasized the importance of timely delivery of these aircraft to meet the operational requirements of the Indian Air Force.
