Revolutionising ISR: Gridbots' Raptor Payload Redefines Multispectral Imaging - DVIDS - SSG Rajheem Dixon

The Gridbots Raptor is a game-changing multispectral optronic imaging payload that's poised to revolutionise the way we gather and interpret intelligence. Developed entirely in India, this advanced system combines multiple imaging technologies, artificial intelligence-based video analytics, and precision target-location capabilities into a single integrated system.

At the heart of the Raptor is its ability to observe targets in visible, near-infrared, and thermal wavelength bands, providing unparalleled situational awareness. The system's precision laser range finder measures distances up to 20 kilometres, while its onboard Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) executes real-time object detection and target classification.

One of the defining characteristics of the Raptor is its highly accurate boresight harmonisation. Every imaging channel is aligned to within 0.15 milliradians, ensuring that the visible camera, thermal imager, laser range finder, and illuminator remain focused on exactly the same point. This alignment is maintained across varying environmental conditions using built-in temperature sensors and an automated thermal drift compensation model.

The Raptor's onboard GPU performs advanced artificial intelligence-driven image processing and video analytics directly within the sensor head. This enables real-time object detection, target classification, and multi-object tracking, while simultaneously enhancing image quality. Additional features include haze penetration, digital image stabilisation, local contrast enhancement, and edge highlighting, enabling operators to detect low-contrast objects that may otherwise remain concealed within thermal imagery.

Beyond its advanced imaging capabilities, the Raptor incorporates comprehensive navigation and geo-location capabilities. An integrated GPS receiver, magnetic compass, and Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) continuously record the platform's position, orientation, and elevation. Every captured frame is automatically tagged with precise geographic coordinates, allowing detected targets to be converted directly into actionable location data rather than simply producing visual imagery.

The Raptor's design enables operational flexibility, operating from a single 24-volt DC power supply and consuming between 10 watts and 50 watts, depending on the model and operating mode. The compact design enables integration across a wide variety of platforms, including stabilised electro-optical gimbals for unmanned aerial vehicles, telescopic surveillance masts, portable tripods, military vehicles, border observation posts, and naval pedestal mounts.

The combination of multispectral sensing, artificial intelligence, precision laser ranging, and integrated geo-location makes the Raptor suitable for a broad spectrum of defence and homeland security applications. Potential missions include border surveillance, coastal monitoring, counter-infiltration operations, maritime domain awareness, target acquisition, artillery observation, force protection, and critical infrastructure security.

The Gridbots Raptor is a revolutionary imaging payload that's poised to transform the future of defence and homeland security. With its advanced capabilities and operational flexibility, this system is set to become an essential tool for military and law enforcement agencies around the world.
