The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has secured a second non-bailable warrant against Hafiz Saeed, the founder of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), in a significant development in a terror case related to the supply of weapons, funds, and directions to terror groups operating in the Union Territory.

The warrant was issued by a Special Court in Jammu, following an application filed by the NIA under Section 75 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). The application described Saeed, a resident of Sargodha in Punjab, Pakistan, as an "absconding accused" in a case related to the arrest of Mohammad Naqeeb Bhat during a check at Pandach on the outskirts of Srinagar earlier in the year.

The investigation into Bhat's arrest led to the busting of a terror network, resulting in the arrest of several more terrorists associated with LeT and its offshoot, The Resistance Front (TRF), as well as two Pakistani nationals. The NIA stated that Saeed's involvement came to light during the investigation, with the arrested Pakistani terrorists allegedly found to be associated with him.

The agency revealed that Saeed is operating from Pakistan and providing weapons, money, and directions to terrorists operating in the Kashmir Valley. The information gathered indicates that the said terrorist is currently in Pakistan and deliberately evading his arrest to escape the clutches of law.

The court noted that Saeed's involvement had surfaced during the investigation and that he was allegedly involved in terrorism. The court also observed that Saeed was at large and that the investigating agency had not been able to secure his attendance in the ordinary manner. As a result, the court issued a general non-bailable warrant against Saeed.

This is the second non-bailable warrant issued against Saeed by the Special NIA Court in Jammu in two months. On July 8, the court issued the first NBW against Saeed in connection with last April's Pahalgam terror attack that left 25 tourists and a local dead.

The NIA's efforts to bring Saeed to justice are a significant step in the fight against terrorism in the region. The agency's determination to pursue Saeed, despite his evasive tactics, demonstrates its commitment to upholding the law and protecting national security.

The case against Saeed is a complex one, involving multiple terror groups and individuals. However, the NIA's investigation has shed light on the extent of Saeed's involvement in terror activities and his role in providing support to terrorists operating in the Kashmir Valley.

The issuance of the non-bailable warrant against Saeed is a significant development in the case. It marks a major milestone in the NIA's efforts to bring Saeed to justice and demonstrates the agency's resolve to hold him accountable for his actions.

The case against Saeed is a reminder of the ongoing threat posed by terrorism in the region. It highlights the need for continued vigilance and cooperation between law enforcement agencies to prevent and investigate terror activities.
