Indian Merchant Vessels Under Attack in the Strait of Hormuz

The recent attack on two Indian merchant vessels in the Strait of Hormuz has sent shockwaves across the maritime community. The incident highlights the growing concerns over the safety and security of commercial shipping in the region.

According to official sources, the first ship, MT Petro Dolphin, was struck by a drone on Sunday. The attack resulted in two Indian seafarers going missing, while 11 others on board were reported safe. The second ship, MT Valtthera, a Marshall Islands-flagged tanker, was hit by an unknown projectile, causing a fire onboard. Fortunately, all 11 Indian seafarers on board were rescued safely.

The Indian government has strongly condemned the attacks, emphasizing the need for immediate de-escalation and a resolution to the ongoing conflict through dialogue and diplomacy. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stated that the safety and security of Indian seafarers remain a top priority for the government.
