Explore CNC Systems →High-Altitude Air Defence: Fire and Fury Corps' Operational Readiness\n\nIn a significant display of military prowess, the Fire and Fury Corps conducted live-fire tests of its air defence weapon system in Ladakh. The exercises, witnessed by Lt Gen Madanraj Pande, GOC of the Fire and Fury Corps, aimed to assess the operational preparedness and equipment readiness of the 9K33 Osa air defence system.\n\nThe 9K33 Osa, a highly mobile and low-altitude tactical surface-to-air missile system, is designed to provide effective air defence capabilities in challenging high-altitude terrain. The system features an all-in-one design, incorporating its own engagement radars on a single vehicle. This allows for independent detection, tracking, and engagement of aircraft, or with the aid of regimental surveillance radars.\n\nThe 9K33 Osa system is mounted on a six-wheeled transport vehicle, the BAZ-5937, which is fully amphibious and air transportable. The road range of the vehicle is approximately 500 km, enabling the system to be deployed in various locations.\n\nThe live-fire tests demonstrated the Fire and Fury Corps' capability to maintain effective air defence preparedness in challenging high-altitude terrain. The exercises showcased the professionalism and combat readiness of all ranks involved, as commended by Lt Gen Madanraj Pande.\n\nThe Fire and Fury Corps' operational readiness in air defence is a testament to the Indian Army's commitment to maintaining a strong and effective military presence in the region. The success of these exercises highlights the importance of continued investment in air defence capabilities, particularly in high-altitude terrain.\n\nAs the Indian Army continues to modernize and upgrade its air defence systems, the Fire and Fury Corps' operational readiness serves as a benchmark for other formations. The Corps' ability to maintain effective air defence preparedness in challenging terrain is a critical factor in ensuring national security.\n\nIn conclusion, the Fire and Fury Corps' live-fire tests of the 9K33 Osa air defence system in Ladakh demonstrate the Indian Army's commitment to maintaining a strong and effective military presence in the region.
