Indian Pilot's Bravery Saves 174 Lives in Hijack Attempt

In a heart-stopping incident, Indian pilot Smit Machchhar foiled an alleged hijack attempt by his co-pilot on an Israel-bound flydubai flight. The courageous pilot risked his life to save 174 passengers, including 27 children, and has been hailed as a hero by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The incident occurred on Wednesday when the flydubai flight FZ1073, traveling from Dubai to Tel Aviv, transmitted emergency signals and made a sharp descent of over 17,000 feet from 34,000 feet before diverting to Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Airport in Saudi Arabia's Tabuk city.

According to reports, the co-pilot had allegedly stabbed Machchhar in the cockpit and attempted to sabotage the aircraft's systems. However, Machchhar, with his 17 years of flying experience, managed to regain control of the plane and save the lives of everyone on board.

Prime Minister Modi praised Machchhar's bravery, saying he risked his life to save others. Modi also lauded Machchhar's presence of mind and composure, crediting his experience and reciting the Hanuman Chalisa for his courage in a life-threatening situation.

Machchhar, who is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in the UAE, shared details of his experience with Modi. He told the prime minister that he has been flying aircraft for 17 years, including 11 years as a captain. Machchhar said that during the scuffle with his co-pilot, his experience made him realize that if he failed to act properly at that moment, what would be the fate of the plane.

Machchhar also shared that he recites the Hanuman Chalisa whenever he is in difficulty. When Modi conveyed his appreciation for this, Machchhar responded, "I am away from the country, not from our culture."

Modi told Machchhar that temples across the country have conducted special prayers for his speedy recovery and that many Indians were reciting the Mahamrityunjaya Mantra. "You are a brave man. India is waiting to welcome you," Modi told Machchhar.

Machchhar expressed confidence that he would make a full recovery soon. The Mumbai-born pilot became emotional during the call, saying it was a very special moment for him to speak with the prime minister.

Modi also spoke about Machchhar's mother, Geeta Ben, saying she has raised him with the values and teachings of the Bhagavad Gita. The prime minister told Machchhar that people across India and around the world are eager to talk to him.

"You have enhanced the honour of the country," Modi said. The pilot added that he has been receiving the best possible treatment at the hospital.

The prime minister expressed his gratitude to the governments of Saudi Arabia and the UAE for taking good care of Machchhar. He also told Machchhar that he has enhanced the prestige of the Indian piloting community, whom the world will now view in a new light.

"Today is Gandhi Jayanti. You have shown the world what the true meaning of 'Ahimsa' is," Modi said.

The prime minister also spoke to Machchhar in Gujarati briefly, as the pilot originally hails from Gujarat.

Modi later tweeted about the video call with the pilot, saying it was "An unforgettable conversation with Captain Smit, filled with pride and emotions".

The incident has sent shockwaves across the world, and Machchhar's bravery has been hailed as a testament to the values of courage and selflessness. As the pilot continues to recover, the nation remains proud of his heroism and the lives he has saved.

In the face of such danger, Machchhar's actions are a shining example of the true meaning of 'Ahimsa' - the principle of non-violence and compassion. His bravery has inspired countless Indians and people around the world, and his story will be remembered for generations to come.

As Machchhar recovers from his injuries, the nation looks forward to welcoming him back home, where he will be hailed as a hero and a symbol of Indian courage and resilience.
