Naxal Arms Dump Recovered in Sukma, Chhattisgarh

In a significant operation, a joint team of District Force, District Reserve Guard (DRG), and Bastar Fighters has unearthed a massive Naxal arms dump in the forested Bhandarpadar-Munurkonda area of Chhattisgarh's Sukma district. The recovery, made on Monday, has yielded a staggering cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives.

Acting on crucial intelligence provided by surrendered Naxals, the joint team launched a comprehensive area-domination and search operation in the Bhandarpadar and Munurkonda villages. The operation, aimed at rooting out Naxal hideouts and caches, has borne fruit in the form of the massive arms dump.

Located in the Bhandarpadar forest, the dump was found to be concealed from plain sight. The joint team, comprising personnel from the District Force, DRG, and Bastar Fighters, carefully excavated the area, leading to the recovery of a vast array of arms and ammunition.

Among the seized weapons were an SLR rifle, a .315-bore rifle, a .410 musket rifle, six BGL launchers, a single-shot rifle, a country-made .315-bore pistol, five 12-bore rifles, and seven muzzle-loading guns. The sheer variety of firearms underscores the extent of Naxal arsenal in the region.

The recovery also included a substantial quantity of ammunition, consisting of 45 AK-47 rounds, 196 SLR rounds, 89 INSAS rounds, 97 .303 rounds, 20 .315 rounds, 45 12-bore rounds, and 66 BGL cartridges. Additionally, the team seized eight large, 23 medium, and 58 small BGL shells, eight BGL warheads, five country-made hand grenades, and 240 gelatin sticks.

Furthermore, security forces recovered 18 kg of gunpowder, stored in two steel containers, 31 empty AK-47 cartridges, other empty casings, magazines, pouches, belts, and other equipment. The dump also contained essential items, such as black uniforms, rucksacks, balaclavas, solar panels, medicines, and other articles of daily use.

The recovery is a significant blow to the Naxalite movement, as it undermines their ability to wage a sustained insurgency in the region. The Sukma Police, in its ongoing campaign to locate and destroy Naxal arms dumps, has made a crucial breakthrough. The operation will continue, with security forces conducting area-domination and search operations to recover hidden caches and strengthen security in the region.
